Peter J. BlackburnMA, is an artist working primarily in the photographic and printmaking genres. In fact, for the last 35 years, Peter has concentrated principally on tricolor gum and casein bichromate printing, both of which are 19th-century French-influenced photographic techniques. Since 2004, Peter has enjoyed representation by the Afterimage Gallery in Dallas (Richardson), Texas, one of the oldest art galleries in the world devoted exclusively to photography. He is a master printer and a recognized innovator in his chosen mediums.

Peter has worked as a graphic designer for non-profit organizations since 1992. He is now semi-retired.

In addition to regularly exhibiting in Dallas art galleries, Peter lectures as a guest artist at major universities and private secondary schools throughout Texas. For almost fifteen years, Peter has served as a regular contributor for AlternativePhotography.com, a massive website of current alternative photographic imagery and instruction. Peter played a modest role in the production of two textbooks. One is Anthotypes by Malin Fabbri, a delightful book that explores the making of art prints using simple organic matter such as extracts from vegetables. He has also contributed material for Gum Printing and Other Amazing Contact Printing Processes by Christina Z. Anderson, an instructional textbook geared for both higher education students and the general public.

The next exhibition of the Be Light Collective will be held from August 6 through September 22, 2023. The venue is the  Goodrich Gallery, located in the Dallas Arts District. The official opening will be held on Sunday, August 6, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Brief artist presentations will begin at 2:30 p.m.
